EDC3000 handheld fiber laser welder

DeusVultLux

A handheld laser welder built for fabricators who carry their shop with them. Touchscreen control, a docked welding head, and a Packout base on top.

Front panel

Set the job on a full touchscreen.

Laser power, wobble, wire mode and head temperature sit on one screen at eye level. Below it, the illuminated cross shows the unit's state from across the bay.

Dual-circuit refrigerant direct cooling

Two refrigerant circuits. One steady laser.

No water loop, no chiller tank. Refrigerant runs straight to a copper cold plate under the fiber laser source and boils the heat away where it is made, which gives the system a fast thermal response. Two independent circuits share that plate, each with its own compressor and its own condenser behind a side vent.

If one circuit loses efficiency, the other carries the load. The laser source stays inside its safe operating window.

Try it: drop circuit A to 40% efficiency and watch circuit B pick up the load.

Inside circuit A

The compressor is the pump.

Each circuit runs its own sealed compressor. Inside the can, the motor spins an eccentric roller that squeezes the vapour coming back from the cold plate and drives it, hot and under pressure, to the condenser behind the vent.

  1. CompressVapour from the cold plate is pressurised.
  2. CondenseFins behind the side vent shed the heat to the air.
  3. ExpandA valve drops the pressure and the refrigerant turns ice cold.
  4. AbsorbIt boils on the cold plate, taking the laser's heat with it.
Continuous duty

Rated 7×24, from −30 °C to 60 °C.

The cooling is sized for round-the-clock work, not a duty cycle. A winter night shift on an open yard or an afternoon beside a furnace: the laser source holds its temperature either way.

Rear panel

Every connection on one labeled panel.

Single-phase 208–240 V power, ground, network and wire feed all land on the back, each with its own printed label, so setup on a new site takes minutes.

Top mount

A Milwaukee Packout base on the lid.

A 14-gauge sheet-metal Packout base is bolted to the top of the shell. Lock a Packout organizer or tool box onto the welder and roll the whole stack to the job.

Detachable storage

Click a drawer box on. Lift it off at the job.

A Packout 3-drawer tool box locks onto the base and comes off with its side latches. Keep nozzles, protective lenses and filler wire in the drawers, then carry the box to the work and leave the welder parked.
